Kenosha Mayor David Bogdala has selected Police Chief Patrick Patton to become the city's next administrator, the city announced.
The Common Council is scheduled to consider the appointment on Monday, Oct. 19. If members confirm it, Patton would start in the new role on Jan. 1, 2027.
Patton served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2001 to 2009 and joined the Kenosha Police Department in 2006. He worked as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and captain before becoming chief in 2023.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Carthage College, a master's in criminal justice administration from UW-Platteville, and a Certified Public Manager credential through UW-Madison.
The city administrator runs day-to-day city operations and works with department heads to carry out the priorities set by the mayor and council. The announcement did not say who would succeed Patton as police chief or how that choice would be made.
