Milwaukee police released body-camera video on Oct. 14 from a shooting on Sept. 30 on the city's south side.
Police said the incident followed reports of shots fired earlier that night. In the video, an officer pursues a 17-year-old through an alley, orders him to drop a gun, and fires, striking him in the legs.
The officer who fired is 26, has more than three years with the department, fired three times, and was placed on administrative leave, according to police. A second officer in the chase drew a firearm but did not fire.
The teen was charged in early October with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18, and resisting an officer. His next court date is Nov. 13.
The department's Homicide Division is investigating the shooting.
