A program featuring materials from a rare J.R.R. Tolkien collection is scheduled for Oct. 24 at the Marathon County Public Library's Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St.
Curator William Fliss of Marquette University, who oversees the collection there, will lead the free program from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and explain how the collection was built and how it is cared for.
Fans can also take part in short oral-history interviews about how they became Tolkien fans. The interviews last about 10 minutes each, with time slots from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. before the program. Sign-up is by calling 715-621-7230.
The program is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Photography and recording will not be allowed because of copyright limits on the materials.
