A Wausau couple has converted part of their backyard into a dedicated Milwaukee Brewers viewing space, which they call the Thirsty Sasquatch.
Alex Nowak and Ann Wilde filled the space with signed cards, flags and posters, along with game-worn items. Their collection includes a pair of pants worn in a game by Christian Yelich.
Nowak said the project started during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the couple could not go out to a bar to watch games, so they created a place of their own at home.
Their fandom goes back years. Nowak has followed the Brewers for about 15 years, and Wilde first watched games with her grandfather as a child. Yelich is her favorite player, and Nowak recently bought a Jackson Chourio jersey during the playoff run.
Wilde said she rearranged her work schedule so she can watch the opening of the World Series. The couple, who met in 2011, say baseball remains their main sport, even though they follow other sports such as hockey.
