Eight schools across Wisconsin have been named 2026 Wisconsin Blue Ribbon Schools, including Wauzeka Elementary in the Wauzeka-Steuben district.
The state recognition covers two areas: schools with very high overall scores on statewide tests, and schools that have made progress narrowing gaps between student groups.
Wauzeka Elementary was recognized in both areas, which district and state officials noted as a double honor.
State Superintendent Jill Underly credited students, teachers, staff, families and school leaders for the work behind the awards.
This is the second year Wisconsin has run the program at the state level, after the federal National Blue Ribbon Schools program ended in 2025.
